I like to go to this discount store to look for used books at a great deal. Sometimes they seem to have a lot of good deals and other times I look and look and can't find anything worth buying. Either way it is definitely worth a stop to check out now and then. Prices are great and store is rarely ever busy.

I went to Thrifty Joes to see if they were a book trader. I found out, much to my chagrin, that they only bought books. The sales clerk was very helpful and provided me with a pamphlet with all the Arizona booksellers and suggested a few that provided credit for trades.I looked around Thrifty Joes and thought it was a neat store. They have an incredible selection of used books. It is organized very well. Prices are high for a used book store, at least where I used to live. This is definitely a convenient place to find specific books you are looking for, but you I prefer hunting in thrift stores and on E-bay....due to the lower prices.I also don't think they pay a decent price for books. According to the clerk, they randomly select a price for the book based on condition and the demand. I'm sure they mark them up at least 50% so, one may get $2.00-$3.00 for a quality hardback book. I can't say for certain because I won't be selling any books there, but based on my experience that's what I'd estimate. At any rate, if I'm in need of a very specific book I would be willing to pay full price for, I might check out Thrifty Joes to see if they have it there before going to a retailer. Other than that, you won't see me in there hunting.

Thrifty Joe's is a great place to find that DVD CD or book that you've been looking for. They have a really nice sized selection of DVDs that are (thankfully) in alphabetic order. I have found a few Disney DVDs that were out of print for reasonable prices. They also have a great selection of video games, from the old school Nintendo cartridges up to PS2, XBox and Gamecube discs. They have a huge selection of books that are categorized according to genre then alphabetically by author. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they have a whole section strictly for Children's books. This is great because my daughter reads very quickly and is always looking for more chapter books. The staff is very helpful and I think that the refund/exchange policy is very fair. I would definately check them out before heading to Borders or Barnes + Noble

I was so happy to find Thrifty Joe's! There were a few books I was missing from some series that I was looking for, but I did not want to pay bookstore prices. So I was happy to find them here, much cheaper and in great used condition. The lady at the counter was really helpful also - she looked up a book that I only knew the name of to find the author's name for me.

I found this book place after going to the movies, (when the theater was still there) and have been a fan ever since. They even buy your books, CDs and more. The owner is friendly, and I would rather go here then one of the big book chains. They also do layaway if want to pay for something later. I have had no problems with TJ's, and recommend them to everyone.
